건축사사무소 강희재는 2011년 2월에 설립하였다.
지난 15년간 진행한 주요 프로젝트는 건축의 경계를 허물고 폭넓은 범주에서 작업을 해왔다.
건축이 시간과 함께 살아 온 방식을 이해하고 노화, 흔적, 기억에 대한 탐구를 하였다.
중첩된 역사적 기억을 조직하고 드러내는 작업이 있는가 하면, 지역의 정체성과 맥락을 존중하는 풍경을 만들어왔다.
Gangheejae Architecture Firm was established in February 2011.
Over the past 15 years, our major projects have focused on breaking the boundaries of conventional architecture and exploring a wide spectrum of design fields.
We have prioritized understanding and studying architecture that has evolved through time, with an emphasis on aging, traces, and memory.
Our approaches have varied - one being the revelation of overlapping layers of historical memory, and another being the creation of landscape that respect the identity and context of the locality.
Heritage Design
건축유산 디자인은 단순한 리모델링이 아니라 새로운 가치를 더하는 일이다.
시간의 흐름에 따라 풍화되어가는 건물에 새활력을 불어넣고자 하였다.
이 과정에서 여러 시대의 켜를 함께 드러내는 것이 중요하고 때로는
두 시대의 켜를 극명하게 보여주어 노후에 견뎌내는 단단함을 보여주기도 한다.
Our approach to heritage designs was not simply remodeling, but rather adding new value to the space.
We wanted to revitalize architecture that is weathering.
Throughout the process, we aimed to emphasize the importance of revealing layers from different historical periods and sometimes demonstrated the strength of enduring the aging of two overlapping time layers.
Korean Architecture
한국적 건축, 한옥이라는 유형에서 우리가 주목하는 것은
목구조의 외관이 아니라 덜어내기, 마당, 관계와 같은 지속가능한 개념이다.
한옥에서의 마당은 비워있는 공간이 아니라 관계를 설정해 주는 살아있는 공간이다.
When designing Korean architecture, our focus on hanok is not just on the visible timber structure but on sustainable concepts such as the subtraction of elements, the courtyard, and spatial relationships.
The courtyard in a hanok is meant to be understood as a living space that establish connections.
Contemporary Architecture
새로운 땅에 프로젝트를 시작할 때 해당 장소만의 맥락과 문화적 의미를 공간에 녹이는 방식을 중요하게 인식하고 있다.
주변의 경관과 조율된 스케일, 방향성, 경관을 존중하며 새로운 층위를 덧붙여나가는 작업을 하고 있다
When starting projects in new locations, understanding the context of the space and embedding cultural meanings into it are considered essential.
Adjustments to scale and orientation in relation to the environment are also carefully considered while respecting the new layers added to the space.
