근대의 켜를 연결하다

부산근현대역사관은 '구)한국은행 부산본부'와 '구)동양척식주식회사 부산지점' 사이를 시민의 일상으로 열어주는 것으로부터 시작된다.

높은 담장과 두꺼운 금고 벽, 철제 문, 감시 복도로 켜켜이 둘러싸였던 은행은 최소한의 개입을 통해 빛과 사람이 드나드는 공간이 되고, 기존 건물을 최대한 존중함으로써 지나간 역사적 사건 속에 현재의 우리를 포용하는 장소가 된다.

 

Connecting with the layers of the modern era

‘The Busan Modern’ and ‘Contemporary History Museum’ stands on the former sites of the Bank of Korea Busan Headquarters and the Oriental Development Company Busan Headquarters. The museum was built to serve as a space for the everyday lives of local residents.

Once a dark bank fortified with thick steel walls, locks, and heavy security, the building has now been transformed into a welcoming space that invites light and people in. With only minimal interventions, the renovation preserves and respects the history embedded within the structure.
