사적 충효동 요지 일대는 14세기 말부터 17세기에 이르는 분청사기 및 백자 가마터가 분포한 곳으로, 청자부터 분청사기를 거쳐 백자로 넘어가는 과정을 알 수 있는 중요한 유적이다.
충효동 요지는 1964년 사적으로 지정되었으며, 1998년 발굴유구의 일부인 2호 가마터의 보호각과 발굴유물 등의 컨텐츠를 담은 무등산 분청사기 전시실이 건립되었다.
보호각과 전시실은 준공 이후 노후화로 인해 2023년 시설 리모델링 및 전시 컨텐츠를 리뉴얼을 진행하였으며 2025년 3월 재개관하였다.

Chunghyodong Historic Site is renowned for its distribution of Buncheong and White Porcelain kilns, which date from the late 14th to the 17th century. It is an important site that illustrates the historical transition from Celadon to Buncheong ware and finally to White Porcelain.
The site was designated a Historic Site in 1964. In 1998, the Mudeungsan Buncheong Ware Exhibition Hall was established to house the protective structure of Kiln No. 2 part of the archaeological remains excavated that year along with the artifacts and related exhibition content.
Over time, due to aging, the protective pavilion and exhibition hall underwent facility remodeling and exhibition content renewal in 2023, and officially reopened in March 2025.
